Harrington Park, A Scenic Surprise

Located on the traditional lands of the Dharawal people, Harrington Park is a leafy suburb encompassed by the Harrington Forest and parts of the Cumberland Plain Woodland. Its beginnings stem from a colonial land grant issued to sea trader Captain William Douglas Campbell in 1813, as compensation for the loss of his ship Harrington to convicts. Campbell’s Harrington Park Homestead was later owned by newspaper magnate Sir William Oswald Fairfax, now a historic icon of the local area.

Make your way to Harrington Plaza, a busy local centre for your morning coffee. Parx Coffee House is a great spot to join locals for a Will & Co Coffee and a range of delish-sounding brekkie options. From the plaza you can join walking paths towards Harrington Park Lake where native wetland birds and animals call the area home. Keep an eye out for them as you explore the gentle 2.3km lake loop trail. The trail includes passing through the Youth Play Space, a fantastic play area incorporating tracks for scooters, bikes and skateboards, great for families looking for a fun activity while out and about.
