Walk This Way: Penrith's Past
Threaded through Penrith, Emu Plains, Castlereagh, St Marys and Mulgoa is a 50km trail of heritage buildings, showcasing the area’s fascinating history as an important agricultural, railway and commercial hub from the early 1800s. Part of this trail is 11km of easily walkable pathway through Penrith and Emu Plains. Join WEST as we share heritage gems with you, found on the traditional lands of the Dharug and Gundungurra people.


Mount Annan In Bloom
Come spring, Mount Annan puts on one of Western Sydney’s prettiest displays as thousands of paper daisies burst into colour across the Australian Botanic Garden. Pink, white and yellow blooms fill the landscape and suddenly one of South West Sydney’s favourite green spaces feels a little more like a wildflower field somewhere much further from home. It’s also the perfect excuse to spend a day exploring Mount Annan, a hidden local gem.

Grand Exploration in Medlow Bath
Tucked between its better-known Blue Mountains neighbours Blackheath and Katoomba, Medlow Bath is a suburb perched 1050 metres above sea level with sweeping views over the Megalong Valley. On the traditional lands of the Dharug and Gundungurra people, Medlow Bath is home to the Hydro Majestic hotel, site of Australia’s first hydropathic health resort, the epitome of grand accommodation when established in 1904.

Green Valley is a suburb found on the traditional lands of the Cabrogal people. Once covered in Eucalyptus forests and home to market gardeners, dairymen and poultry farmers, it is now a thriving residential suburb with a diverse and interesting community, reflected in the wonderful cuisine you can find here.
