This week, we wanted to bring you a story on the amazing country music duo, The Pleasures, who released their first single The Beginning of the End.
Playing their first-ever shows together in February are The Pleasures. Made up of two renowned country singers Catherine Britt and Lachlan Bryan. The Pleasures is a collaboration that began with a few late-night texts and quickly spiralled into a feverish week of writing and recording in Melbourne.
“Lachlan and I have always clicked in life and in song” explains Catherine, “and we’ve always had an unspoken understanding and respect for one another. These songs came so easy - they flowed out of us like a raging stream. I just want more honest, real music in the world, and I couldn’t think of a better person to make it with!”
“I don’t think know anyone else who feels and understands country music the way Catherine does”, says Lachlan. “She sounds authentic because she is authentic. When she opens her mouth and sings you can hear the neon lights buzzing, you can taste the tequila and you can barely see for the cloud of smoke. It’s all that stuff that people try and fake – they try and put in on – but it’s like she was just born with it”.
Both Catherine and Lachlan have had incredibly successful music careers of their own. With over 20 years in the industry and 10 albums and EPs under her belt, Catherine began her music career at age 14 and has gone on to win multiple CMAA awards, including the country industries highest honour the CMAA Female Artist of the Year Award. Catherine is also nominated for a Golden Guitar at this years Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Lachlan, on the other hand, has fronted his own band The Wildes for over a decade and is regarded as one of Australia’s finest songwriters. His band received The Golden Guitar in 2014 for Alternative Country Album of the Year for their album Black Coffee and is also nominated for a Golden Guitar this year
You can catch the duo performing their debut live show throughout a number of locations this February including Maitland, Marrickville, St Kilda and Cronulla. They will also be performing at this years Tamworth Country Music Festival in April.
