SPRINGWOOD

Springwood is a town in the lower Blue Mountains boasting a diversity of culture, history, food and natural wonders. Only twenty minutes from Penrith, Springwood is the perfect destination for a day trip at any time of the year – easily accessed via train or car.

Begin your visit at one of the cozy cafés for breakfast or lunch. If you’re looking for a quality coffee, locally owned Finn & Co is a great stop. You can also pick up a hot meat pie from Blue Mountains favourite Bakehouse on Wentworth.

If you’re visiting Springwood on the fourth Sunday of the month, and you’ll want to check out the Springwood Growers Market outside the Blue Mountains Theatre + Community Hub. These markets welcome over 50 local growers and producers and are a favourite among the locals.

Take some time to explore the Blue Mountains Theatre + Community Hub, both from the outside and inside. Officially opened in 2015, the building was designed by world-acclaimed architects Francis-Jones Morehan Thorp. The 418-seat theatre regularly hosts performances from jazz groups to pop-icons and musicals to orchestral groups – there’s something for everyone.

Next door to the theatre is a 1882-built building which houses the Braemer Gallery. Run by volunteers, this gallery features Australian artists and exhibitions. It’s a quiet gallery where you'll easily find yourself absorbed in the character of the art and history of the building.

Located on Macquarie street, The Bunker is a well-known establishment in Springwood. You’ll be spoilt for choice by the extensive all-day brekky & lunch menu. Once you’ve beaten the decision anxiety, order a breakfast cocktail for the boozy brunch you deserve.

Springwood is also the home of acclaimed fine dining restaurant Arrana. Also on the main street, this venue boasts a sophisticated menu inspired by the Blue Mountains landscape and rich culture. Executive chef Daniel Cabban chose to incorporate native Australian ingredients in all the dishes which each have been carefully designed to feature flavours from the area. The restaurant commits itself to quality food, wine and service, which will make for a well spent afternoon or evening before you head back home.

Perfect on any sunny day, Springwood is an easy-to-get-to destination full of hidden gems. Visit and explore this quiet and charming town this weekend!
