Shop, Eat, Play - Your Next Big Day Out

For the best of three worlds – shopping, eating and playing – Western Sydney’s Eastern Creek Quarter (ECQ) Outlet brings a whole new level of fun to a day out. Located at the crossroads of the M4 and M7 Motorways on Dharug land, it brings together some of the world’s most recognisable fashion names and Australian favourites, while also interweaving First Nations public art and storytelling into the retail and dining experience. Combined with a visit to WEST HQ and Coliseum Theatre, this is a perfect combo for your next big day out.
Arriving at ECQ Outlet, a colourful First Nations mural and the words ‘Dharug Nurra’ greet you at the main entrance. Created by artists Merindah Funnell and Emma Hicks, this stunning mural connects you immediately to Dharug Country. If you head around to the side entrance basketball court, you can also admire the vibrant and playful mural artwork of Western Sydney artist Sam Absurd.
Back at the main entrance, grab a coffee from Durk’s Café + Eatery, and once inside, get ready to shop your little heart out. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of rummaging through racks to discover a golden slipper item. Over 100 outlet stores are there to tempt you, many with 70% off retail prices. You’ll find a mix of local and international brands, including Calvin Klein, Guess, Tommy Hilfiger, US Polo and Ariat. The presence of these international brands solidifies what locals already know – that Western Sydney is one of Australia’s most dynamic, culturally rich and rapidly evolving regions worth investing in.
It’s fun to wander the industrial matrix-like layout and see what finds you can discover. Outside at the ECQ Social precinct, local Dharug culture is shared through landscaped gardens, play areas, art elements and First Nations signage and audio storytelling. If you walk through the gardens, you can immerse yourself in the experience. For some high energy activities, iPlay has bowling, bumper cars, laser tag, an arcade and more to keep you entertained.
The food scene here is an impressive global menu. Order yourself some of Pho Ever’s Vietnamese favourites, Pico De Gallo’s Mexican dishes or Sir Manong’s modern Filipino cuisine. Bollywood Burgers is a knockout for Indian flavours and spices infused with savoury patties, rich sauces and fluffy buns. Pairing a Samosa Burger, Aaloo Tikki Burger or Paneer Burger with spiced Khatta Meetha Fries is a delicious twist on a familiar favourite. For the sweet tooth, Brooklyn Donuts creates Aussie flavours done in creative ways, such as the Tim Tam Slammer and Golden Yaytime. Even the names are fun.
For the best full day experience, make your way afterwards to the nearby WEST HQ, one of Western Sydney’s favourite go-to places for a great day or night out. WEST loves the food options here, from hatted restaurant dining to something more casual, great cocktails at Eat St. Bar and live music for those who love a boogie.
For live theatre fans, the Coliseum Theatre next door is an incredible venue to catch some of the biggest names in music, comedy and theatre. It’s an amazing architectural space, equivalent to venues you would expect to find in some of the largest cities in the world. The quality of shows is incredible and with a yearly calendar full of events, there’s always a reason to return time and time again.
As you have now discovered, what may initially start as a day of shopping, can easily transform into one filled with culture, excellent food, and unique experiences - everything you need for your next big day out.
