Binda sits on the traditional land of the Gundungurra people and is believed to mean ‘Deep Water’ in the local aboriginal language. The small, quaint village sits about 20km outside of Crookwell within the Upper Lachlan Shire and was the original administrative centre of the area. The village is older than Crookwell with a European history going back to the 1840’s. Binda continues to boast some beautiful old stone buildings from the Goldrush era and is most famous for the annual Binda Races dating back to 1848.

For such a small village the town packs a rich history and oozes country charm. It is a destination of stunning beauty and quality that deserves a visit. Within the small village sits our destination, Hillcrest House, a stunning luxury guesthouse on a secluded hill overlooking the town that is a great base for exploring the local area and surrounds.

On arrival, you are greeted by an elegant country homestead and garden. This is a place for you to come for a weekend with an intimate group of friends. A place to unwind, relax, dine, share great local wines, and watch the stars at night. The owners, Wentworth and Annette Hill, optimise country hospitality. They created this very private luxury guesthouse with one simple vision, to make it beautiful, memorable, and immersive. The result is unexpected and beautiful and defines luxury.

Hillcrest House has a beautiful garden and sits within a mesmerising landscape setting. The verandahs are deep and perfect for casual dining. There’s seating in and around the home, a lovely semi-formal garden, avenues of trees, a vineyard and a central firepit to spend a few hours by.

The house is absolutely filled with antiques, fine art, old wares, and collectables from across the world. There’s even a private Art Gallery on site that you can experience. The interiors are lovingly considered, curated, and arranged so that you lose yourself within them. This is a place for relaxation and conversation over a long lunch or dinner before nestling in for deep sleep.

Come morning you can share a morning coffee or tea while watching the world go by before planning your day. Hillcrest House makes for a great base to explore the local region with some fine country towns, food offerings and experiences in and around Binda. The sense of arrival and coming home is strong so you may just want to spend an entire weekend enjoying great food and company without ever leaving. The art of relaxing has been defined, make sure you check this out.
